Auf der anderen Seite
An verschiedenen Stellen ist zu lesen, dass Twitter sich eignet, um eine Tagung/ Konferenz zu begleiten. Nun konnte ich bei zwei Gelegenheiten (dem Besuch der Bildungsexpedition und bei der GMW09) ausprobieren, wie es sich anfühlt, per Twitter einer Veranstaltung virtuell zu folgen. Um es gleich vorweg zu nehmen: Es fühlt sich komisch an.
Die erste Gelegenheit war bei dem Besuch der Bildungsexpedition (ein Blogbeitrag zum Besuch von Michael Kerres findet sich hier )im Duisburg Learning Lab. Aus dem Urlaub heraus habe ich dem Livestream- und die Twitterbeiträge verfolgt. Vor Ort wurde versucht, in Twitter gestellte Fragen, in die Diskussion einzubringen. Dies gelang aber natürlich nicht immer, da z.B. Diskussionen bereits an einer Stelle angekommen waren oder Fragen übersehen wurden. Kein Wunder: Natürlich hätte ich gerne auch ein paar inhaltliche Inputs in Twitter gegeben, z.B. zu der Frage "Was hat sich bei Educational Media in den letzten Jahren bei den Studierenden verändert?" habe ich geschlagene 5 Minuten gebraucht, bis die 140 Zeichen optimal ausgenutzt, der Hashtag untergebracht und die Formulierung so wenig missverständlich wie möglich formuliert war. Da war man im learning lab schon beim Thema Pause angekommen ;). Praktisch war Twitter hingegen, um kurze Fragen anderer Zuschauer zu beantworten (z.B. Voraussetzung für Teilnahme an dem Masterstudienprogramm oder Link zu Informationen). Ich hatte nicht das Gefühl wirklich ‚dabei’ zu sein, sondern eben eher zuzuschauen. Vielleicht könnte eine moderierte Einbindung hier unterstützend wirken – aber ist es wirklich sinnvoll Diskussionen/ Gespräche zu verlangsamen, um abzuwarten, ob evtl. aus Twitter auch noch eine Frage/ ein Beitrag kommt? Im Chat habe ich es da einfacher. Ich sehe, wer sich an der Diskussion beteiligen möchte und kann gezielt nachfragen.
Die zweite Gelegenheit war die GMW 09: U.a. Joachim Wedekind, Gabi Reimann, Mandy Schiefner/Matthias Rohs und Michael Kerres haben bereits beschrieben, wie sie das Twittern als Tagungsteilnehmer wahrgenommen haben – für mich als Außenstehende war es eine sehr ambivalente Erfahrung: Es war spannend, ein Stimmungsbild der Tagungsteilnehmer übermittelt zu bekommen, es ist gut 'rübergekommen', dass auf der Tagung ingesamt eine sehr gute Stimmung herrschte! Es waren eine schier unglaubliche Anzahl an Tweets, denen zu folgen nur schwer möglich war. Die meisten Vorträge wurden nicht gestreamt, daher waren die vortragsbezogene Aussagen für mich kontextlos und ich konnte mich hier nicht einbringen. Die Art der zum Teil in Twitter geäußerten Kritik zu einzelnen, wenn auch wenigen, Vorträgen hat mich befremdet: Man stelle es sich vor: Ich stehe vor einem Plenum und halte einen Vortrag, einige Teilnehmenden zeigen durch Gespräche untereinander, dass sie offensichtlich nicht mit dem Gesagten einverstanden sind – ich kann reagieren. Anders bei Twitter: vom Referierenden unbemerkt, zwitschert die Kritik aus dem Vortragssaal in die Welt hinaus, zum Teil sozial ungefiltert. Für mich ist dies kein angemessener Umgang mit Referenten (egal welcher Qualität der Beitrag ist), ich bin hier für eine Rückbesinnung auf die gute alte Netiquette!
Nebenbei: In einer Kameraeinstellung der Abschlussdiskussion sah es schon recht lustig aus, als einige Teilnehmende mehr auf ihr Laptop/ Handy schauten als zum Podium. Es hat mich etwas an ein Coldplay Konzert erinnert –der Innenraum war illuminiert, nicht von Wunderkerzen oder Feuerzeugen, die im Takt der Musik schwangen, sondern von Handydisplays, die die Show aufzeichneten – ob man dabei wirklich total in die Musik eintaucht?!
