Erstes Gruppentreffen in Second Life
Gestern hat meine Lerngruppe ihr erstes Gruppentreffen in Second Life abgehalten. Organisiert wurde der abwechslungsreiche Abend von Stanley Schwab , dem es gelungen ist, alle (7!) Gruppenmitglieder in die Umgebung zu integrieren und – das sei schon einmal vorweggenommen – dem niemand bei unserer 2-stündigen Reise verloren gegangen ist ;-)
Stanley hat die Sitzung klasse aufgebaut:
So startete er mit einem Kurzvortrag, der u.a. die Frage aufwarf: Berauben wir uns nicht vieler Möglichkeiten, wenn wir aus der 3 D real world in die 2D virtual world wechseln?
Anschließend zeigte er uns noch einige Videos , die, interessante Einblicke in die Möglichkeiten von Second Life boten. So waren wir sehr gut vorbereitet auf den anstehenden Rundgang, der uns ...

... in eine Kathedrale
... und zu einem mittelalterlichen Dorf führte,
um danach in der Erstellung erster Gegenstände unterwiesen zu werden. Abschließend fand in gemütlicher Runde bei EduNation eine Abschlussreflektion statt.
Für mich war diese Sitzung bereichernd und überaus interessant:
1. Der ‚Standortwechsel’ ist ein echter didaktischer Mehrwert: Ist eine Präsentation beendet, ‚geht’ man weiter zur nächsten Station und erhält durch die Wegstrecke automatisch die notwendige Zeit, um sich auf die ‚neue’ Lernsituation einzustellen.
2. Soziale Präsenz: Ist ein Avatar zu lange inaktiv, äußert sich dies z.B. durch Gähnen, ‚Wegnicken’, Beine ausstrecken oder ähnliches. Tippt ein Gruppenteilnehmer in die Tastatur, so tippt auch sein Avatar (… und man wartet unwillkürlich auf die Nachricht im Textchat ;-). Natürlich kann ich auch bei Skype sehen, wenn ein TN tippt oder es besteht die Möglichkeit, mittels eines Awareness Tools die Aktivität der einzelnen Nutzer anzeigen zu lassen. Aber es 'fühlt' sich trotzdem anders an, wenn ich sehe, wie sich ein Avatar am Kopf kratzt, während ich meinen dritten Nebensatz einfüge. Kurzum: In Second Life wird man ständig erinnert, dass netzgestützte Inputs kurz und knapp zu sein haben.
3. Gruppengefühl: Es ist ein Unterschied, ob ich im VC Fotos eines Nutzers (oder aber ein schwammiges Videobild) oder ob ich (selbst gestaltete) Avatare der Gruppenmitglieder sehe. Wir bewegen uns gemeinsam, wir erkunden zusammen unbekannte Regionen - was sich m.E. positiv auf das Gruppengefühl auswirkt. Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass wir Second Life für Diskussions- und Austauschprozesse häufiger einsetzen könnten. Skeptischer sehe ich die kooperative Erstellung von Arbeitsergebnissen. Dafür habe ich bisher keine wirklich brauchbaren Objekte gefunden.
4. Aufwand?: Ich bin mir unsicher, in welchem Verhältnis der Aufwand für die Vorbereitung abwechslungsreicher Szenarien zum Nutzen steht. Grundsätzlich lässt sich natürlich eine Grundausstattung von Objekten/ Skripten anlegen und diese dann je nach Bedarf in mein Szenario einfügen. Aber dennoch, betrachtet man einige Räume in SL, dann finden sich dort die ‚klassischen’ Szenarien wieder: Leinwand vorne, Dozentenpult und eine ganze Menge Stühle frontal ausgerichtet. Second Life nimmt uns (natürlich ;-) nicht die didaktisch/methodische Planung ab, aber ich sehe einiges Potenzial, was die Unterstützung entdeckender/problembasierter Lernprozesse betrifft. Stanley hat auf jeden Fall viel Arbeit in diese gelungene Sitzung investiert, dafür ein herzliches Danke Schön!
